Hospitals / Libraries

It may seem a bit odd to categorize hospitals and libraries in a common group.  But since we're talking acoustics - - maybe not so odd.  There is a distinct acoustic commonality here, in that the elimination/attenuation of annoying sound, is typically quite high on their list of priorities, though not always satisfied..

When we think of a library, we naturally associate its environment with "silence", void of all sounds that may disturb concentration.

Often, that disturbance is generated by random speech, so much so that Universities create separate library rooms, into one where silence means low-talking is permitted and one in which the historic definition of silence prevails.

Hospitals have similar such acoustic issues to overcome, in the accomplishment of their mission of providing "patient welfare and comfort", made even more complex with the variations of many single-purpose rooms.

The commont thread of "annoying sound" can be found in the "acoustic hot spots" - - waiting for a solution that:

  1. Solves the acoustic problem
  2. Simultaneously provides an architecturally - pleasing design solution
  3. Offers the solution at an affordable cost

These specifications define the Vicoustic mantra, as demonstrated throughout its full range of products.  Vicoustic products represent years of University research and product development at our R & D Facility in Portugal. (Pictured)
